Introduction
The
Mobile Device Control Centre (MDCC) is a Web-based application service
that allows users to view and monitor mobile activity directly from
a browser. As configured mobile device register with the Control
Centre, their records can be viewed. Various information can be
viewed depending on which software was installed on the mobile device
and the exact configuration of the device and the software.
The
Control Centre allows for display of different types of information:

- Mobile

- Images/Photos
- Audio

First
we will look at how to register and start using the Mobile Device
Control Centre.
Quick Start
and Registration
Once you have installed a compliant software on
the mobile device (for example the Mobile Activity Tracker - MAT)
make sure that it has registered with the MDCC. The software usually
does this automatically first time it is started as log as an appropriate
GPRS connection is available.
The MDCC is located at URL http://control.remotelabs.net/
Start up your browser and go to the MDCC URL.
You
the have to enter the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier).
The IMEI of your mobile can be attained in different ways :
- It
is usually located under the battery cover printed on a label
on the mobile device.
- On
some phones the IMEI can be attained by typing " *#06# "
as if you are dialing a number.
- You
can also find out your IMEI number from the MAT application by
selecting the Show IMEI option
Once
you have the IMEI number, type it into the MDCC homepage (in the
IMEI field) and press Login. (see example below)

You
will then be asked to enter your username, password and your email
address. Make sure that your email address is correctly entered.
You
will then be able to use the control centre user account functions.
Subsequent
Logins
To
login again just type in the username and password. You do not need
the IME number again.

Once
logged in you will see a list of your devices and their presence
information as below. Information includes: mobile device model,
mobile network that the phone is connected to, signal strength indicator,
key lock status and key press inactivity period. (see below).

Phonebook
the phonebook allows you to manage you devices' phonebook
entries. These entries are remotely backed up onto the MDCC
using software such as the MAT client. New entries will also
be relayed with the MAT client. The Phonebook page allows
you to view all your contacts in alphabetical order and also
to view concise lists or extended information such as birthdays
etc.
Calls
lists all call records from your mobile device including
incoming calls, outgoing calls and missed calls. Information
about each call may include the phone number, length and time
of call.
SMS
lists all sms messages that have been sent or received.
Information about each SMS message includes the mobile phone
number (MSISDN), the time and the body of the message. Only
text (non-binary) messages are displayed.
Media
shows any audio or photo files that have been uploaded
onto the MDCC. These can be photos or audio clips associated
with phone calls or from remote sensing recodings.
Setup
configures your remote application for remote sensing and
other configuration options. Depending on the features of
your client application you can specify recording options
for audio and photo function. You can specify recording of
between 10 and 60 seconds of phoen calls. You can also specify
recording of audio to be performed periodically. Photo options
include taking photos periodically and taking photos when
a call is initiated.
Logout
- loggs you out of the MDCC.
